German aluminum production for packaging rises 14% in 2010

German aluminum industry group GDA said that German aluminum production for packaging in 2010 was better than expected.
In 2010, Germany's packaging aluminum production increased by 13.6% year-on-year. In 2010, Germany produced a total of 405,100 tons of aluminum foil, aluminum tubes, aluminum for packaging and beverage cans, compared with 356,600 tons in 2009.
GDA also said that aluminum demand for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and food packaging was the strongest. Packaging aluminum producers are generally optimistic about the sales market in 2011.
